The Giants and coach John Harbaugh are retaining another member of former coach Brian Daboll’s staff.
Chad Hall will be hired as wide receivers coach, a league source confirmed to Newsday. Hall was an assistant quarterbacks coach last season, his first with the Giants.
Hall spent six seasons with the Bills (2017-22) and was their receivers coach the final four seasons. He then spent 2023-24 as the Jaguars’ receivers coach. He also interviewed with Harbaugh in 2023 for the Ravens’ vacant offensive coordinator position.
With the Jaguars, he helped develop rookie Brian Thomas in 2024. Thomas was a Pro Bowl selection in 2024 after recording 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns, both franchise rookie records.
Hall is the seventh position coach or coordinator added to Harbaugh’s staff. On the offensive side, he joins Willie Taggart (running backs) and Tim Kelly (tight ends) as assistants who have been confirmed. Outside linebackers coach Charlie Bullen also has been retained.
Harbaugh is still looking for an offensive coordinator. He reportedly interviewed Colts passing game coordinator Alex Tanney on Friday and will interview Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter on Sunday, according to NFL Network.
The Giants also requested an interview with Broncos passing game coordinator Davis Webb, who is considered a candidate for the Broncos’ offensive coordinator job.
Harbaugh also could consider LSU offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. Weis coached quarterback Jaxson Dart at Ole Miss; his father, Charlie Sr., was the Giants’ running backs coach from 1991-92. However, Weis Jr.’s only NFL experience is as an assistant in 2017 to then-Falcons offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian.
