FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Andre Cisco’s homecoming story didn’t have a happy ending.

The safety from Valley Stream played only eight games for the Jets after signing a one-year contract with the team he rooted for growing up. He will hit free agency again.

“It is very upsetting,” Cisco said. “You always think big coming into every year. You set the bar high. We just didn’t hit the bar.”

Cisco said it “was refreshing” to be back in the area. He hoped to make an impact with the Jets but suffered a pectoral tear in Week 8 in Cincinnati and underwent season-ending surgery. Cisco never missed more than two games in his four previous NFL seasons with the Jaguars.

“I feel like I matured a lot during these last eight, nine weeks to myself, just being on the sideline and just taking some time,” said Cisco, who attended St. Anthony’s High School for two years before transferring to IMG Academy in Florida. “I’ve never been on IR, so that was the most time I’ve missed. It was very unique. Within that, obviously it was hard to watch us lose.”

Cisco had 41 tackles and a fumble recovery in what likely will be his only season with the Jets. He said he likes coach Aaron Glenn but wants to play on a winning team. The Jets went 3-14.

“The safe thing to say is I would love to be back because I know AG and I love AG and what they got going on,” Cisco said. “For me, I’m going into Year Six and I’m not where I want to be at yet.

“The goal was always to be the best safety in the league and to be on a defense that’s winning Super Bowls and being part of the reason that championships are coming home. So that’s my goal.”
