FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – The Jets will be Brady’s bunch again this week.

Aaron Glenn announced that rookie quarterback Brady Cook will get his second consecutive start in New Orleans on Sunday.

“I feel like I want to continue to evaluate him and see exactly how he's going to operate on a consistent basis,” Glenn said Wednesday.

Cook’s backup will either be Tyrod Taylor or Justin Fields. Glenn anticipates both returning to practice this week and the healthier one to serve as QB2.

Taylor (groin) and Fields (knee) were listed as limited participants at Wednesday’s walk-through. Adrian Martinez served as Cook’s backup last week against Jacksonville. He was released on Tuesday.

“It's an opportunity for me to lead this team once again and try to go get a win on the road,” Cook said. “It’s as simple as that.”

Glenn said he chose to stick with Cook because he wants to see how he performs in different circumstances, and what they hope is a more competitive situation.

Cook made his NFL debut against Miami two weeks ago, entering the game for the injured Taylor with the Jets down 21-0. Last week, the Jets’ defense allowed the Jaguars to score on eight of their first nine possessions. The Jets were down 31-10 at the half and lost, 48-20.

This game, between the 3-11 Jets and 4-10 Saints, should be more competitive.

“I want to see him in a situation where our defense, offense, and special teams are complementing each other and exactly how he’s going to operate there,” Glenn said. “I think he deserves an opportunity to do it.”

Glenn wouldn’t commit to naming Cook the starter for remainder of the season, which is only three more games anyway.

“We’re not worried about that right now,” Glenn said. “The only thing I’m worried about is New Orleans right now.”

Cook, an undrafted player out of Missouri, completed 36 of 63 passes (57.1%) for 339 yards, one touchdown and five interceptions in his first two NFL games. He said, first and foremost, he wants to take better care of the football.

“I don't want turning the ball over to be a habit for me,” Cook said. “That's not something that's been a part of my game in the past and it's something I want to clean up this week.”

Two-minute drill

Mason Taylor (neck), Tony Adams (groin), Kiko Mauigoa (neck) and Eric Watts (concussion) were ruled out for Sunday’s game. … Glenn said he needed to speak to the doctors and Garrett Wilson (knee) before deciding if he will return this season. It would be surprising if Wilson did.
