Aaron Glenn and new Jets coordinator Frank Reich have filled out the offensive coaching staff.
Bill Musgrave is the Jets’ new quarterbacks coach, the team announced on Tuesday. The Jets named Seth Ryan, son of former Jets coach Rex Ryan, as their passing game coordinator. They also named Thomas Merkle an offensive assistant/assistant quarterbacks coach, Alfredo Roberts tight ends coach, Al Netter assistant offensive line coach and Matthew Sargent an offensive assistant.
They join returning coaches Steve Heiden (offensive line), Shawn Jefferson (wide receivers), Nic McKissic-Luke (running backs) and Brian Nitkin (assistant offensive line).
Musgrave has been an offensive coordinator or quarterbacks coach for 20 of his 23 years in the NFL. The Browns quarterbacks coach last season, Musgrave has also worked for Las Vegas, Philadelphia, Carolina, Washington, Jacksonville, Atlanta, Minnesota and Denver.
Merkle, Netter and Sargent followed Reich from Stanford, where he was the interim head coach last season. Merkle was Stanford’s quarterbacks coach and Netter the offensive line coach. Sargent was a graduate offensive assistant last season.
Roberts was previously the Steelers tight ends coach. Ryan spent the past five years with the Lions, four as assistant receivers coach and last season as assistant tight ends coach.
