Newsday’s Girls Bowler of the Year: Brooke Andresen, East Islip, Sr.
Brooke Andresen has been a model of consistency for an East Islip team that won its third straight county championship. The senior finished the season with the top average (222.18) on Long Island and for the fourth straight year, surpassed the 200-pin mark.

Andresen’s 289 high game was second best on Long Island and her 726 high series ranked third. She placed second in the state individual championship and helped East Islip win its first state title since 2014.
“I wanted to make sure that I went out with a bang,”, Andresen said. “I remember being the younger one and looking up to the older kids. I just wanted to help everyone like those girls helped me in the past.”
FIRST TEAM
Abby Buenaventura, MacArthur, Sr.
Buenaventura’s 195.50 average was the best in Nassau and helped lead MacArthur to a second straight county title. She had a 248 high game and 666 high series,
Trishna Desai, Smithtown, Jr.
Desai’s 219.86 average was the second-best on Long Island. Her 804 high series ranked first and her 279 high game was third best.
Kaylee Dwyer, Longwood, Jr.
Dwyer’s 215.61 average ranked third on Long Island. The junior won the Suffolk singles tournament and was also part of the winning doubles team.
Izzy Grillo, Comsewogue, Jr.
Grillo’s 196.19 average was seventh best on Long Island. Her 299 high game ranked first and 711 high series ranked fourth.
Julia Harrington, Bayport-Blue Point, Soph.
Harrington had a 194.17 average, a 697 high series and a 267 high game for the Bayport-Blue Point boys team.
Meeya Leaderman, East Islip, Jr.
Leaderman’s 205.63 average was fourth best on Long Island. Her 692 series ranked sixth in Suffolk and her 257 high game was 12th.
Carissa Lugares, Commack, Sr.
Lugares’ 198.30 average ranked sixth on Long Island. Her 683 high series was eighth best in Suffolk and 268 high game was tied for fourth.
Tatum Palme, Islip, 8th
Palme’s 198.97 average and 710 high series were each fifth best on Long Island. Her 258 high game was tied for ninth best in Suffolk.
Sabrina Quaranta, Sachem, Jr.
Quaranta’s 194.03 average ranked eighth best in Suffolk. She had a 672 high series and a 267 high game.
Coach of the Year: Genesis Dawson, East Islip
As a first-year coach, Dawson was able to lead East Islip to its third straight county title and its first state championship since 2014.
