BOYS LACROSSE

Anthony Asaro and Luke Cascadden, Garden City: Asaro scored four goals to lead No. 1 Garden City past No. 2 Manhasset for the Nassau Class B title. Cascadden was dominant, winning 17 of 21 faceoffs and adding a goal for good measure.

Will Cawley, Syosset: The Lehigh commit was terrific for No. 4 Syosset in its loss to No. 1 Massapequa, scoring two goals as a defender and forcing several turnovers. No player was more disruptive.

John Marino, Center Moriches: What a day to remember for the Red Devils goalie. His 15 saves against Babylon in the Suffolk Class D championship included one as time expired to preserve a one-goal win and hand Center Moriches its first county title in program history.

Dylan and Luke Martini, Wantagh: Always shaking defenders, the Martini brothers totaled 14 goals and eight assists, including an overtime winner by Luke to send No. 2 Wantagh past No. 3 Plainedge and No. 1 South Side en route to a Nassau Class C title.

Nico Ghicas, Half Hollow Hills: Plenty from Hills deserve a shout after its dominant Suffolk Class A championship win over Northport, but Ghicas’ 20-for-29 performance from the faceoff X was beyond impressive.

Jack Salva and Luke Griffin, Kings Park: Salva had five goals and four assists in a semifinal win over No. 5 Sayville. He added another three goals and an assist in the Class C Suffolk championship win over No. 2 Bayport-Blue Point as the Kingsmen became county champions for the first time. Griffin scored three early goals to keep KP ahead in a tight first half. Shoutout to Nick Vicinanza for back-to-back 18-save games in goal.

Alex Vitale, Cold Spring Harbor: He won 13 of 14 faceoffs for the No. 1 Seahawks in the Nassau Class D championship against No. 2 Locust Valley, including 11 straight to open the contest.

Drew Walendowski, East Islip: Ryan Parker and Jack Kalinowski were brilliant this week, but Walendowski earned his flowers with a series of impressive saves — finishing with 16, nine in the second half — to hold off rivals No. 2 West Islip in the Suffolk Class B championship.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Sophia Buffardi, Sayville: No player had more points than Buffard in No. 2 Sayville’s Suffolk Class C semifinal win over No. 3 Westhampton, logging three goals and two assists for the Golden Flashes and another two goals in the championship loss to No. 1 Bayport-Blue Point.

Bobbie Creo, South Side: Creo led all players in points with her five goals in No. 1 South Side’s Nassau Class C championship win over No. 2 Wantagh.

Gianna Calise and Paige Kellershon, Mattituck: Kellershon had three goals and three assists for No. 1 Mattituck in its Class D championship win over No. 4 Babylon. Calise tallied four goals.

Ava Meyn, Bayport-Blue Point: With four goals, an assist while making a constant impact on the draw, Meyn left her mark in the Phantoms' Suffolk Class C championship win over Sayville. She added two goals and four assists in a semifinal win over No. 4 Rocky Point.

Sydney Millet, Aliya Leonard and Maeve McKay, Ward Melville: Millet had seven saves, including one inside the final four minutes off an 8-meter chance, for No. 5 Ward Melville in its win against the top-seeded Cougars in a Suffolk Class A semifinal. McKay had two goals, including one in the fourth quarter, and played a crucial role in limiting Commack’s effectiveness on draw controls. Leonard scored three goals against Huntington in the Suffolk Class A title game.

Valentina Puccio and Sabrina Boyle, Huntington: It’s back-to-back Stick Star honors for Puccio, and that’s what she deserves after scoring the overtime winner for No. 2 Huntington against No. 3 Northport in a Suffolk Class A semifinal. Boyle forced a turnover in the championship against No. 5 Ward Melville to set up the winning score.

Kate Theofield, Smithtown West: Theofield’s eight points against No. 5 Eastport-South Manor, scoring six goals and assisting two more, in the semifinal set up her five-goal performance against No. 3 Harborfields to lift a program-first Suffolk Class B title for the Bulls.
