Newsday's top 15 boys fencers for 2025-26

Newsday's annual list of the top 15 boys fencers across Long Island, listed in alphabetical order, as the 2025-26 season continues. All stats listed are from last season unless otherwise noted.
William Dreyer, Ward Melville, Sabre, Sr.
Dreyer boasted a 31-6 record. He won 15 consecutive bouts to take gold at the Suffolk individual tournament and will look to defend his crown.
Justin Guo, Syosset, Foil, Sr.
Newsday’s defending Player of the Year, Guo dominated the strip with a 26-2 record.. He won gold at the Nassau individual tournament and led Syosset to a Long Island title.
Patrick Klinkenberg, Whitman/Glenn, Epee, Sr.
Klinkenberg won all but two of his 26 bouts. A four-year varsity athlete, he figures to be a contender for the Suffolk epee crown.
Charles Lee, Wheatley/Roslyn, Foil, Jr.
Lee led Wheatley/Roslyn to a terrific year, winning eight games en route to a semifinal berth. He did his part by going 18-0 in the regular season.
Thomas Lee, Wheatley/Roslyn, Foil, Fr.
One of the best foil teams on Long Island features the sibling duo of Charles and Thomas Lee, with the latter standing out as an eighth-grader with a 22-1 record.
Brandon Lim, Syosset, Sabre, Sr.
A fifth-year varsity fencer, Lim went 20-1 with a seventh-place finish at the Brentwood Holiday Tournament.
Jerry Lin, Half Hollow Hills, Epee, Sr.
No Long Island fencer enjoyed a more dominant start than Lin, who won his first 39 bouts. Lin, who finished 49-9 across all competitions, will look to medal at Suffolk’s individual tournament.
Marc Lindemann, Newfield/Miller Place, Foil, Sr.
Lindemann won gold at the county individual tournament as a freshman and sophomore then took silver as a junior. He went 26-3and is the favorite to retake his foil title in Suffolk.

Kevin Mulligan, Sayville/Bayport-Blue Point/Connetquot, Foil, Sr.
A talented fencer from an expanded program, Mulligan went 31-8 and placed fourth at individuals.
Yannik Reyes, Ward Melville, Foil, Soph.
The sophomore stood out for a talented Ward Melville team, going 26-4 as a freshman. Reyes placed fifth in the Suffolk individual championships and seventh at the Brentwood Holiday Tournament.
Sohan Shah, Syosset, Sabre, Jr.
Shah finished as a gold medalist at both the Brentwood Holiday Tournament and with Syosset’s sabre team at Huntington’s Alan Kuver Memorial Relays. He took silver at the Nassau individual tournament and finished 18-0 in meets.
Colin Smith, Sayville/Bayport-Blue Point/Connetquot, Foil, Soph.
He went 32-7 as a freshman and placed 14th at the Brentwood Holiday Tournament. Smith, who competes year-round, helps make his team's foil group one of the strongest in Suffolk.
Max Tse, Great Neck South, Epee, Soph.
Tse won all 18 of his regular-season bouts. He will be a strong competitor for Nassau’s epee title and will look to return Great Neck South to the county final.
William Wei, Herricks, Sabre, Jr.
The reigning Nassau individual champion in sabre was 26-4 and helped Herricks reach the county semifinals.
Jerry Wu, Half Hollow Hills, Epee, Jr.
An exceptional sophomore season for Wu saw him go 35-1 in the regular season and 51-4 across all competitions. He won the Suffolk individual tournament in epee and placed second at the Brentwood Holiday Tournament.
