It’s time for kickoff. Newsday’s inaugural high school fantasy football season begins this week.

The league features 10 teams, and it’s time to preview each roster. Staff members will be battling for bragging rights each time out.

Team Ferguson: First overall pick Shane Kiernan, the quarterback from Miller Place, leads the way. Smithtown West’s Michael Cascione and Hempstead’s Jonathan Davis add versatility and impact whenever they touch the ball.

Team Sarra: Ja’Quan Thomas led Long Island in rushing last season and guided William Floyd to a county title. Eastport-South Manor’s Max Ferraro adds another strong runner, while Wantagh quarterback Carter Loughman steps into a starting role and will look to elevate the offense.

Team Kellman: Lehigh commit Patrick Coan of Sayville was the first-round pick and threw for 29 touchdowns last season. Ward Melville’s Joey Karpowicz can score in multiple ways, and Bayport-Blue Point’s defense provides one of the best units in the league.

Team Slawson: Aidan Winter, a versatile playmaker for Babylon, anchors the team. He’s joined by Massapequa wide receiver Cole Villalta, a 6-foot-4 target, and Northport quarterback Simon Blissett, who is expected to lead a more pass-friendly offense this year.

Team Chris: Farmingdale running back Josh Kama, second in Nassau County rushing last season, leads the team. Seaford quarterback Michael Spinella and Marist commit Maurice Scott of St. John the Baptist are two of the top signal callers in their respective divisions.

Team Ruban: Long Island Lutheran quarterback Peyton Robinson, coming off a phenomenal junior year, was the first-round pick. The Garden City defense, riding a 54-game win streak, was added in the third round. Connetquot running back Javon Barnwell also brings playmaking ability.

Team Sicoli: Brian Falk of Seaford is a workhorse tailback. Huntington quarterback Jacob Guzik can make plays with both his arm and legs, while Long Beach’s Brody Reidel, a returning all-county player, adds more talent to the lineup.

Team Hank: Daniel White of Half Hollow Hills East ran for more than 2,000 yards last season. Ward Melville’s Joe Benedetto was also among Suffolk’s top rushers. Quarterback Luke Taff of Hills West leads an offense known for success through the air.

Team Lindsay: Connetquot quarterback Vincent Feraca will lead an explosive offense. Stanford commit Jacob Butler of Long Island Lutheran is one of the fastest receivers on Long Island, and Longwood’s Kyon Sarwari gives them a reliable ground option.

Team Katzen: AJ Rudolph of Miller Place was one of Suffolk’s most productive receivers last season. He’s joined by St. Anthony’s Xavier Bala, one of the Island’s top running backs, and East Hampton quarterback Theo Ball, who threw for 16 touchdowns last season.
