Former St. Anthony’s wide receiver Ian Strong has made a name for himself at Rutgers. Now, he’ll be taking his talents across the country.

Strong has officially transferred to Cal for his senior year.

The Golden Bears announced his commitment on their team Instagram page on Monday.

Strong entered the transfer portal on Jan. 1. He was the second-ranked wide receiver in the transfer portal, according to On3, following a dominant stint at Rutgers.

In the last two seasons as a Scarlet Knight, Strong recorded 95 receptions for 1,438 yards and 10 touchdowns. He earned All–Big Ten honorable mention in 2024 and 2025.

He formed a tremendous duo with former high school teammate Korey Duff Jr. The pair finished as Rutgers’ two leading receivers this past season and were named to the Biletnikoff Award watch list in 2025. The award is given to the nation’s top FBS receiver.

Strong won a state championship in his senior season with St. Anthony’s in 2022.

“He had one of the all-time great senior seasons,” St. Anthony’s coach Joe Minucci said. “He played both sides of the ball and won AAA defensive player of the year. He is certainly one of the all-time greats at St. Anthony’s.”

In his final high school season, Strong was named to Newsday’s All-Long Island first team. He totaled 30 catches for 797 yards and 10 touchdowns. On defense, he recorded 80 tackles and three interceptions.

“He’s just a great individual and comes from a great family,” Minucci said. “It’s really exciting to watch him have success at the college level. He deserves it.”
