SUFFOLK I
Floyd’s Ja’Quan Thomas rumbled for 180 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries in the Colonials’ 21-20 overtime win over Sachem North Friday night in Suffolk Division I.
Sachem North’s Luke LaRocca threw a 6-yard touchdown to Jonathan Giraulo, but Floyd’s defense stopped the 2-point attempt to seal the win.
David Gonzalez racked up 14 tackles, two sacks and three tackles for loss for Floyd. Jayden Johnson tallied 11 tackles, two sacks and three tackles for loss.
LaRocca rushed for two touchdowns, including a four-yard run to tie the game and force overtime for Sachem North.
Whitman 21, Patchogue-Medford 3: Jordan Churchman returned a punt 84 yards for a touchdown to lead Whitman to a road victory. Jason Thompson had a 5-yard touchdown run and Jarone Park had 1-yard rushing touchdown. Mark Rutledge made 10 tackles, six for loss and two sacks and Micah Brandon had two interceptions.
Brady Melito made a 31-yard field goal for Patchogue-Medford.
Commack 35, West Babylon 7: Jalen Jean-Louise ran for 159 yards and two touchdowns and caught a 50-yard touchdown for Commack in its home win. Lincoln Riggs completed 12 passes for 242 yards and three touchdowns. James Brusca had 89 yards, a receiving touchdown and an interception.
Jacob Gaertner punched in a 1-yard touchdown for West Babylon.
Sachem East 35, Riverhead 18: Logan Perotti had five carries for 98 yards and two touchdowns for host Sachem East. Ryan Lane had 42 rushing yards and touchdown and threw a 16-yard touchdown to James Dee. Cody Quinlivan had a rushing touchdown, and Brayden King had a sack and a fumble recovery.
Nathan Netwich rushed 11 times for 127 yards and two touchdowns for Riverhead.
SATURDAY’S GAMES
Lindenhurst 24, Brentwood 14: Ryan Murgatroyd caught three passes for 84 yards and three TDs and had five tackles, one tackle-for-loss and one INT to lead traveling Lindenhurst. Mikey Russo threw three TD passes for 280 yards.
Cris Peralta had two rushing touchdowns for Brentwood.
Central Islip 26, Bay Shore 7: Elijah Wellington completed 6 of 10 passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns to lead Central Islip to a win in Suffolk I. Camari McDonald caught three passes for 54 yards and a score, and Zequan Marrow had three catches for 81 yards.
Jimmy Gaston Jr. rushed 10 times for 140 yards and two touchdowns. Jonathan Rubio had an INT and Benjamin Maldonado had a sack.
Cato Thomas rushed for a touchdown for Bay Shore.
SUFFOLK II
With just five seconds remaining, Tristan Garcia completed an 11-yard touchdown pass to Jovan Greenhill to give visiting North Babylon a 34-28 win over Smithtown East in its Suffolk Division II opener Saturday. Dominic Prestano rushed 21 times for 136 yards and a TD. Greenhill added 114 yards on 19 rushes and TJ Shaw scored two touchdowns along with his 12 carries for 87 yards. The team finished with 385 rushing yards.
Smithtown East quarterback Antonio Marrone rushed for 95 yards and two TDs. David Sack had nine tackles. Nicolas Stroveglia went 4-for-4 on PATs.
THURSDAY’S GAME
Deer Park 21, Copiague 20: Deer Park’s Joey Berrios made a tackle for loss on Copiague’s two-point attempt to seal a home victory for the Falcons over the Eagles. Nusanti Delbridge caught four passes for 58 yards and a touchdown. Christian Myrick caught five catches for 65 yards and added 55 yards and a score on three carries. Anthony Kern threw for 126 yards and a touchdown.
Jayden Herrera rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns for Copiague. Roger Rowe added 81 yards and a TD on 17 carries.
FRIDAY’S GAMES
East Islip 22, Bellport 10: Jake Simmons ran for 225 yards and two touchdowns, leading East Islip to a comeback home win over Bellport. Andrew Arena caught a 6-yard touchdown from AJ Ierardi in the third quarter to give East Islip its first lead of the game. Evan Gordon had three tackles for loss. PJ Gannon ended Bellport’s last drive with an interception.
Bellport’s Braydon Cipp completed a 31-yard touchdown pass to Elie Malcom. Anthony Diaz-Sanchez kicked a 25-yard field goal and a PAT.
Northport 41, Centereach 7: Simon Blissett had 265 yards of offense and four touchdowns for visiting Northport. Luke Loiacono scored on a 9-yard run and a 31-yard pass from Blissett. Daniel Miller had three receptions for 70 yards and a touchdown. Greyson Cabrera added 73 yards and a TD for the Tigers.
Connetquot 42, Newfield 6: Vincent Feraca completed 14-for-16 for 265 yards and four touchdowns for host Connetquot. Nick Mastriano had six receptions for 93 yards and two touchdowns. Jonas Mendez caught a 40-yard TD pass and Kingston Maugeri added a 13-yard TD catch.
Javon Barnwell ran for 158 yards and two TDs on 21 carries. Danny Ryan had 10 tackles and Sonny Kowalevich had three tackles for loss.
Nicholas Leoni caught a 77-yard TD pass from Connor Stebbins for Newfield.
SUFFOLK III
Jayden Durham caught the winning 8-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Beardsley with 30 seconds left to lead host Eastport-South Manor to an 18-17 win Saturday over East Hampton in a Suffolk Division III opener. Durham caught five passes for 51 yards and two TDs. Tommy Powers forced a fumble and Brayden Huff recovered it at midfield with four minutes left to set the Sharks up for their game-winning drive.
Beardsley completed 10 of 19 passes for 100 yards and three TDs and Max Ferraro had an 8-yard TD catch. Huff had six tackles and Powers had four tackles and a sack. Joe Hersey had 14 carries for 60 yards, plus a 29-yard reception and a pick. East Hampton’s Theo Ball threw a 15-yard TD to Livs Kuplins.
Rocky Point 38, Wyandanch 14: Peyton Reisinger had two rushing touchdowns for visiting Rocky Point. Ryan Espinal, Cristian Romero and DJ Xavier each had a rushing touchdown. Brogan Casper recovered three fumbles and John Nadeau forced two fumbles.
Islip 35, Harborfields 7: Jack Rao completed 21 of 23 passes for 225 yards and two TDs and ran nine times for 84 yards and two scores for Islip. Jack Halpin had seven receptions for 90 yards and two TDs. Jake DeGennaro added three catches for 52 yards and had five rushes for 35 yards and a TD.
THURSDAY’S GAME
Hauppauge 31, Comsewogue 12: Joe Pistritto had seven catches for 194 yards and a touchdown, leading host Hauppauge to a win. Nick LaChapelle threw for 261 yards and three touchdowns. Roman Dixon caught four passes for 68 yards and two touchdowns. The Hauppauge defense had five takeaways.
FRIDAY’S GAMES
Smithtown West 35, Westhampton 14: Michael Cascione had 204 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries to lead visiting Smithtown West. Cascione also had seven tackles on defense, two pass breakups and one interception. Nick Zins had five tackles, a tackle for loss and a sack. Luke Brown had six tackles and a forced fumble.
West Islip 54, Amityville 6: Jake Kramer had 145 yards and three touchdowns on nine carries to lead West Islip. Emmanuel Obayi added 65 yards on seven carries with one touchdown. Matthew Marker and Jack Elko led the defense with seven tackles each. Jayson Carlson had six tackles, a sack and a touchdown. Conor Kenefick had two INTs.
Sayville 32, Half Hollow Hills West 0: Patrick Coan completed all nine of his passes for 131 yards and two touchdowns, adding 14 carries for 107 yards and a TD for Sayville. Tristan Vitale rushed for 71 yards and a score on 12 carries. Jack Andruszkiewicz had seven tackles, including three sacks and three tackles for loss as Sayville held Half Hollow Hills West to 75 total yards of offense.
SUFFOLK IV
Michael Kilgannon caught the game-winning touchdown pass from Joe Competiello with 7.7 seconds left to lead Glenn past Mount Sinai, 24-21, in a Suffolk Division IV home opener Saturday.
Competiello finished 13-for-18 with 151 yards and two touchdowns. He added 120 rushing yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. GJ Cook had five catches for 72 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Competiello had an interception. Keith King led the defense with 10 tackles and a forced fumble. Daniel Paolella recorded a 75-yard punt return for a TD to open the scoring for Mount Sinai.
Bayport-Blue Point 54, Port Jefferson 7: Josh Franchak led visiting Bayport-Blue Point with 180 yards rushing and four touchdowns on six carries. Colin Clark went 4-for-5 in passing with 120 yards and two touchdowns. Colin Most had three receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown, plus a 25-yard interception returned for a touchdown. Tommy Steyert kicked a 37-yard field goal and went 6-for-6 on PATs.
FRIDAY’S GAMES
Babylon 53, Kings Park 27: Aidan Winter had six carries for 222 yards and four touchdowns, plus a 55-yard touchdown reception to lead host Babylon. Kai Jankow threw a touchdown and rushed six times for 124 yards and a score. Both Zach Vasquez and Myles Varley made six tackles, with the latter adding an interception. Jaiden Millner had five tackles and an interception.
Brandon Shapiro threw for 157 yards and two touchdowns for Kings Park and Matthew Corrado had six receptions for 108 yards and a TD.
Miller Place 41, Hampton Bays 18: Shane Kiernan threw for 311 yards and four touchdowns for visiting Miller Place. AJ Rudolph had eight catches for 117 yards and a touchdown and Brendon Cannon had seven catches for 111 yards. Jack Abbott had five catches for 45 yards, two touchdowns and had an interception. Cameron Meadows had six catches and a touchdown. Gavin Peterson and Van Johnson each had a rushing touchdown. Drew Meyer had 9 1⁄2 tackles with two of those for losses.
Michael Single had a 63-yard fumble recovery touchdown, a 75-yard kickoff return touchdown and a rushing touchdown for Hampton Bays.
Shoreham-Wading River 60, Center Moriches 21: Anthony Mullen led visiting Shoreham-Wading River with 89 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 11 carries. Noah Gregorek passed for 162 yards and a touchdown on nine completions. George Greene led in receiving with 85 yards and a touchdown on five catches. Lucas Diamond rushed six times for 37 yards and two touchdowns.
