Carle Place girls basketball falls in Class B regional final

After securing the at-large bid to the New York State Class B girls basketball tournament, Carle Place’s journey has come to an end.
The Frogs fell to Chenango Forks of Section IV, 71-58, in the Class B regional final at Union-Endicott High School in Endicott on Wednesday night. Carle Place finished the season 15-7.
The Frogs kept it interesting early, going on a 9-0 run to tie it at 15 apiece with 39 seconds left in the first quarter. However, Chenango Forks senior forward Maggie Warbus took over from there, spearheading an extended 39-15 run with 21 points and four assists over the next quarter-and-a-half, making it 54-30 with just over two minutes left in the third quarter. The Oregon State commit finished with 37 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, a steal and six blocks.
Junior guard Isabella Roman led Carle Place with 17 points, while classmate forward Ava Gomes added 14 points, seven rebounds. Junior guard Madison Reedy contributed eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.
“This was such a great season for these girls,” Carle Place coach Conor Reardon said. “This family atmosphere that this team created is something that me and my coaching staff will never forget.”
