Whatever the Bayport-Blue Point girls lacrosse team discussed at halftime was exactly what the players needed to hear.

After a back-and-forth first half, culminating with a tie score at halftime, Bayport-Blue Point showcased in the second half how it has become one of the most dominant girls lacrosse programs on Long Island in recent years.

The Phantoms dictated possession and scored the first four goals of the third quarter en route to a 10-6 victory over South Side in the girls lacrosse Long Island Class C championship game at Adelphi University on Tuesday night.

Bayport-Blue Point (18-1) will play in the state Class C Southeast Regional Final at Lakeland High School in Westchester County at 1:30 p.m. Saturday against an opponent to be determined.

“These whole last two weeks have been about leaving your own legacy," Bayport-Blue Poiny coach Ryan Gick said of this playoff run. "My assistant coach Matt [Maloney] said yesterday, ‘You leave your own mark. You’re part of other championships and that’s great, but you want to be the one who is in charge of your own fate here.’ ”

South Side finished at 16-4 after winning its first county title in program history.

The Phantoms, who won a state championship in 2023, won their third Long Island Class C championship over the last five years, spearheaded by outscoring South Side, 4-1, in the third quarter.

Aubrie Eisfeld scored two of her three goals during Bayport-Blue Point’s third-quarter run. Olivia Brady added her second goal of the game and Ava Meyn scored as Bayport-Blue Point scored four goals over the first nine minutes of the third quarter.

“It means so much to be back here,” Eisfeld said. “We’ve worked so hard to get back to this moment. Everyone played such a huge role on that field. I couldn’t be more proud of everyone.”

Bayport-Blue Point had seven different goal scorers, including Sara Richardt, who also had an assist.

Sienna Connolly had three goals to lead South Side. Cyclones goalie Tara Cody had 11 saves in a strong performance.

The teams alternated goals in the first quarter with Connolly scoring less than two minutes into the contest before Erika Kreuscher scored a free-position goal for Bayport-Blue Point to tie it at 1 with 5:33 left. Connolly struck again for the Cyclones before Kailey Bruckner scored with 10 seconds left for Bayport-Blue Point.

Charlotte Rathjen and Bobbie Creo scored free-position goals for South Side to give the Cyclones a 4-3 lead early in the second quarter before the Phantoms scored three goals over 5:29 to take a 5-4 lead.

Emma Shanahan, Richardt and Brady scored for the Phantoms before Skye Korten scored off an assist from Olivia Mayerhofer to tie the score at 5.

Eisfeld said: “At half, it was 0-0 basically so it was fair game. We knew we wanted it, and we were going to push 110% and do whatever it took. We left no regrets on the field.”
