Shannon Gloeckner pitched a no-hitter, striking out 10 to lead No. 8 Northport to a 5-0 home win over No. 9 Whitman in the first round of the Suffolk AAA double elimination softball playoffs. Kiera Murphy and Lily McCabe each went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Abby Abbatiello had a sac fly in the fourth inning and hit a three-run double in the sixth.

Brynn Iacovone had nine strikeouts for Whitman (14-7), which will play next on Monday at 10 a.m. at the higher seed. Northport (15-6) travels to No. 1 Sachem North at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Bethpage 3, Calhoun 0: Rylee Petruskie pitched a one-hit shutout and struck out four without walking a hitter to lead No. 5 Bethpage past No. 1 Calhoun in Game 1 of the Nassau Class AA semifinals. Bethpage (15-8) will visit Calhoun (11-12) for Game 2 at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

Kellenberg 3, Holy Trinity 0: Hailey McGreevy pitched a three-hit, complete-game shutout with seven strikeouts for No. 2 Kellenberg against No. 3 Holy Trinity in Game 1 of the NSCHSAA semifinal round. Molly Silecchia hit an RBI double. Lauren O’Brien went 2-for-3 with a run for Kellenberg (16-8). Jaeda Bartfield struck out 11 in seven innings for Holy Trinity (7-8). Game 2 is at Holy Trinity at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

BASEBALL

Commack 3, Sachem East 2: Robbie Mascia went 2-for-3 with two solo home runs and three runs, leading No. 4 Commack past No. 5 Sachem East in the first round of the Suffolk Class AAA playoffs. Sam Kay allowed three hits in seven innings and went 2-for-4. Commack (13-8) will visit No. 1 Longwood at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Sachem East (9-11) will host No. 8 Riverhead in an elimination game on Wednesday.

Shoreham-Wading River 2, Miller Place 1: Dan Laieta threw 64 pitches in seven innings, allowing two hits and no earned runs with two strikeouts for No. 4 Shoreham-Wading River against No. 5 Miller Place in the first round of the Suffolk Class A playoffs. Laieta went 1-for-2 with an RBI single. Miller Place (12-8-1) will face No. 6 Mount Sinai at noon on Saturday. Shoreham-Wading River (14-7) will travel to No. 1 Kings Park at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Syosset 9, Plainview-Old Bethpage 6: Carter Bullaro (2-for-4), Jake Bursztyn (1-for-3) and Dylan Santucci (2-for-3) all hit three-run home runs to lift No. 6 Syosset past No. 3 Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK in Game 3 of the Nassau Class AAA quarterfinals. Christian Eliana pitched a scoreless seventh inning for the save. Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK finishes with a 12-10 record. Syosset (6-14-1) advances to the semifinal and will play Game 1 at the higher seed at 5 p.m. Friday.

Cold Spring Harbor 9, Carle Place 5: MacArthur Fairbairn went 4-for-4 with an RBI and pitched two hitless innings in relief to lead No. 3 Cold Spring Harbor past No. 2 Carle Place in Game 1 of the Nassau Class B semifinals. Connor Sheridan went 3-for-4 and scored twice for CSH (13-8). Game 2 will be at CSH at 4:40 p.m. on Wednesday. Carle Place is 15-6.

Oyster Bay 11, East Rockaway 2: Nick Von Bargen allowed one hit and no earned runs in six innings, lifting No. 1 Oyster Bay past No. 4 East Rockaway in Game 1 of the Nassau Class B quarterfinals. Thomas Vidro went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. East Rockaway (6-15) will host Oyster Bay (16-4) in Game 2 at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

BOYS LACROSSE

Bay Shore 7, Huntington 6: Landon Wernersbach scored the game-tying goal with 1:30 left in the fourth quarter and followed it with the winning goal with 58 seconds left in the second overtime period to lift No. 7 Bay Shore past No. 10 Huntington in the first round of the Suffolk Class A playoffs. Jonathon Hammond starred with 15 saves, including the 200th of his career. Frankie Algeri and Jack Kamenstein scored two goals apiece for Huntington (6-11). Bay Shore (11-6) will travel to No. 2 Sachem North in the quarterfinal round Friday at 5 p.m.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Patchogue-Medford 10, Commack 9: Addison Ruland had four goals and one assist to lift No. 9 Patchogue-Medford past No. 8 Commack in the first round of the Suffolk Class A playoffs. Sam Benedict had three goals and one assist for Commack (8-9). Patchogue-Medford (8-9) will travel to No. 1 Ward Melville at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
