May marks the beginning of the end for regular-season lacrosse, but not the end of amazing highlights. Here’s who stood out this week in boys and girls lacrosse.

BOYS LACROSSE

Logan Bracco, St. Dominic: Bracco’s 23rd save against Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK came with three seconds left to preserve St. Dominic’s 14-13 win. He made another 23 saves in a 14-6 CHSAA win over Monsignor Farrell.

Jake DeGennaro and Dylan Smith, Islip: What a comeback win for Islip, with DeGennaro scoring two of six fourth-quarter goals to beat defending state champion Bayport-Blue Point, 8-7, at home. Smith helped make it possible by winning 16 faceoffs.

Joseph Filocamo, Island Trees: The two-way star scored the winning goal in overtime, his third along with an assist and seven ground balls in Island Trees’ 9-8 decision over Roslyn.

Andrew McKenzie, Mattituck/Greenport/Southold: The imposing goalie made his 500th save against Miller Place on April 15. He’s added 62 saves across four games since, including a 17-save shoutout over West Babylon.

John Hawthorne, Luke Mullen and Alec Notaro, South Side: Mullen scored the winner as the Cyclones overcame a seven-score deficit with eight fourth-quarter goals to beat Syosset,13-12. Notaro won eight of 11 fourth-quarter faceoffs, and Hawthorne led all players with six points.

James Pagano, Commack: Scoring half of Commack’s 16 goals in a one-score win over Lindenhurst is all one needs to hear about Pagano’s value to the Cougars.

Patrick Johnston, Port Jefferson: His eight goals and one assist led Port Jefferson to its first win Monday over West Babylon. Goalie Owen Whiffen earned a shoutout for his 30-save performance against Babylon.

Carson Turissini, Connetquot: He had 13 goals and seven assists this week, including a game-high four goals and an assist in a 9-8 win over a strong Huntington squad.

Amelia Brite, Commack: Nine goals, three assists. Not bad numbers in only two games, let alone against good Patchogue-Medford and Connetquot programs.

Emma DiMaio, Floyd: She had six goals and four assists across Floyd’s two wins over Sachem East and Bay Shore.

Abbey DeSantis, Hauppauge: There’s a new record-holder in Hauppauge as DeSantis set the new bar by tallying her 341st save in a 13-1 win over Southampton.

Isabella Fiorelli, Whitman: Still only a sophomore, Fiorelli scored her 100th goal last week and added an eight-point performance in an 11-8 against Bellport.

Brooke Mazzei, Lynbrook: She sparked Lynbrook’s huge 14-12 win over fellow contender Locust Valley with eight goals and two assists. She added seven goals and three assists in wins over Hewlett, Roslyn and Carle Place this week.

Ryan Reynolds, Cold Spring Harbor: She led all scorers with four goals and an assist in Cold Spring Harbor’s 15-9 win over Massapequa.

Julie Shaugnessy, Syosset: How about 13 points in a single game? Shaugnessy did that with seven goals and six assists in Syosset’s 15-10 win over Immaculate Heart Academy.

Sophia Virgilio, St. John the Baptist: Virgilio achieved not one but two milestones against Kellenberg, scoring three goals to reach 200 goals and 250 points.
