Newsday's Top 25 girls swimmers for 2025

Newsday's annual look at the top high school girls swimmers on Long Island, listed in alphabetical order, heading into the season. All statistics are from last season, unless otherwise noted.
Samantha Anderson, Manhasset, Sr.
She finished fourth in the state in the 500-yard freestyle in four minutes and 58.88 and sixth in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:53.29 seconds.
Meghan Brady, Sayville/Bayport-Blue Point, Sr.
The Northeastern University commit finished second in Suffolk in both the 200 freestyle (1:51.29) and the 100 freestyle (52.10). She placed fifth in the state in the 200 freestyle (1:53.28) and seventh the 100 freestyle (52.56).
Lauren Canty, Sacred Heart, Soph.
She finished third in the NSCHSAA in both the 500 freestyle in 5:06.37 and the 200 freestyle in 1:57.09.
Adeline Chen, Manhasset, Soph.
She finished second in Nassau in the 1-meter dive with a 462.45 and placed seventh in the state with a 450.90.
Calista Chen, Bellmore-Merrick, Sr.
The Army commit finished second in the state in the 100 backstroke in 55.62. She finished first in Nassau in the 100 backstroke in 55.46 and fourth in the 200 IM in 2:08.43.
Olivia Chiofolo, Hauppauge/Smithtown, Soph.
She finished first in Suffolk in the 200 freestyle in 1:55.80 and second in the 100 butterfly in 58.84. She was a member of Hauppauge-Smithtown's state championship 200 freestyle relay (1:35.79) and 200 medley relay (1:45.01) teams.

Carina Dai, Port Washington, Roslyn, Jr.
She finished seventh in the state in the 100 butterfly in 56.93 and ninth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.78.
Sadie Davidoff, Sacred Heart, Jr.
She finished seventh in the federation in the 500 free in 4:59.06 and 13th in the 200 freestyle in 1:54.99. In the NSCHSAA, she placed second in the 500 freestyle in 5:01.68 and fourth in the 200 freestyle in 1:56.72.
Una Diaz, Long Beach, Soph.
She finished third in the state in the 200 IM in 2:06.58 and fourth in the 100 backstroke in 56.45. She was also a member of Long Beach’s state championship 400-yard freestyle relay team (3:29.89).
Madelyn Gebhard, Garden City, Soph.
She finished third in Nassau in the 500 freestyle in 5:08.59 and fourth in the 200 freestyle in 1:57.20.
Sasha Karafin, Bellmore-Merrick, Jr.
She finished third in the state in the 500 freestyle in 4:57.25 and fourth in the 200 freestyle in 1:52.05.
Charlotte Kohner, Garden City, Fr.
She finished fifth in Nassau in both the 200 freestyle in 1:59.01 and the 500 freestyle in 5:12.10.
Kayla Kulier, Hicksville, Sr.
She finished 10th in the state in both the 500 freestyle (5:08.77) and the 200 freestyle (1:58.33).
Yuna Lee, Jericho, Jr.
She finished second in Nassau in the 100 butterfly in 57.70 and seventh in the 100 freestyle in 55.43.
Megan Leung, East Meadow, Sr.
She finished seventh in the state in the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.20 and third in Nassau in 1:06.16.
Madison Lin, Syosset, Sr.
The University of Chicago commit finished second in the state in the 200 IM in 2:06.07 and fifth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.42. She finished second in Nassau in both the 100 freestyle (52.34) and the 200 IM (2:06.54).
Julia Lucca, Hauppauge/Smithtown, Soph.
Lucca finished second in the state in the 50 freestyle (23.58) and third in the state in the 100 backstroke (55.84).She was a member of Hauppauge-Smithtown's championship 200 freestyle relay (1:35.79) and 200 medley relay (1:45.01) teams.

She finished first in the state in both the 100 fly (54.58) and the 50 freestyle (23.29) and was a member of Hauppauge-Smithtown's championship 200 freestyle relay (1:35.79) and 200 medley relay (1:45.01) teams.
Cara McDonald, Bellmore-Merrick, Sr.
The UConn commit finished sixth in the state in the 500 freestyle in 5:02.66. In Nassau, she finished second in the 50 freestyle in 24.85 and third in the 100 freestyle in 52.95.
Brooke Orner, Longwood, Jr.
She finished seventh in the state in the 50 freestyle (23.86) and 11th in the 500 freestyle (5:05.17). She won the Suffolk title in both the 50 free (24.01) and 500 freestyle (5:10.90).
Kayra Patan, Herricks, Jr.
She finished fourth in the state in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.54) and 16th in the 200 IM (2:11.15). In Nassau, she finished first in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.09) and second in the 200 IM (2:08.54).

Avery Schuhmacher, Farmingdale, Soph.
She finished third in Nassau in the 1-meter dive with a score of 446.20. She placed 15th at the state championship.
Victoria Wang, Manhasset, Sr.
Wang won the Nassau 1-Meter Diving Championships with a score of 563.70 and finished second in the state with a score of 493.60.
Natalie Wu, Herricks, Sr.
She finished second in the state in the 100 butterfly in 28.99. In Nassau, she finished first in both the 100 butterfly (56.09) and the 50 freestyle (24.96).

Vivienne Zangaro, Long Beach, Soph.
Zangaro won the state title in the 200 freestyle (1:49.54) and the 500 freestyle (4:53.50). She was also a member of Long Beach’s 400 freestyle relay championship team (3.29.89).
