The Islanders signed Daniil Prokhorov, selected 42nd overall in this June’s NHL Draft, to a three-year, entry-level deal that gives the 6-5, 209-pound forward the option to play Canadian junior hockey for Sarnia of the Ontario Hockey League rather than remain in Russia.

Earlier this summer, Prokhorov agreed to a two-year, two-way deal with the KHL’s Dynamo Moscow that included an opt-out and he likely would have played for their minor-league affiliate.

Prokhorov spent the past two seasons with the minor-league St. Petersburg Dynamo Jr., compiling 20 goals and seven assists in 43 games in 2024-25. Prokhorov attended the Islanders’ summer prospect development camp and is now eligible to attend this month’s training camp before heading to Sarnia.
