Steve Matthews' Aqueduct selections for Thursday, Nov. 6
Best bet: THREE NINES FINE (3)
Best value: TEMPLE CITY TABOO (9)
FIRST: Best Bet projects as the main speed with proper ride. Lost in Rome could be in the garden spot if top selection hits the wall. Power Seeker drops and owns fast back numbers on best efforts.
SECOND: Secane visually and numerically impressed when winning debut at Gulfstream; pairs up. Shilling was a determined maiden winner in last; very interesting. Day to Day, an uncoupled barn mate of top selection, should move forward with return to dirt.
THIRD: Three Nines Fine outworked 62 rivals in half-mile bullet on Oct. 29; ready for return. Patience N Grace also is training swiftly for return; dangerous. Red Velvet Cake was seven lengths clear of third finisher when a game second in debut; big-time player.
FOURTH: Ramblin' Wreck consistently logs fast late-pace figures. Conman owns speed and drops; very interesting. Alan Turing owns a win and two seconds from last three starts; obvious threat.
FIFTH: Grand Commander is rested and takes potent class drop to maiden-claiming ranks. Sequential tallied clear-cut placing when last seen on June 14; dangerous. Last Man Standing, an uncoupled barn mate of Sequential, logs fast numbers on "A" efforts.
SIXTH: Tideoftime tallied fast final fraction when a determined winner in debut at Laurel; ready for prime time. Candy Moonshine is speedy and could prove very tough on a soft lead. Deep Learning was a strong second in Grade 2 stakes last out; right in the thick of this.
SEVENTH: Absolute Smoke was an improved third in key race last out; more to come. Hot Currency, three lengths behind top selection last out, adds blinkers for white-hot Linda Rice; could easily close the gap. Power of Women is training sharply for debut; follow the money.
EIGHTH: Can't Fool Me was done in by rough trips in last two starts; likely to be overlooked in the wagering. Nonna Lynne hails from Chad Brown barn and owns two wins and two placings from five starts; be no surprise. Gallant Greta holds razor-sharp current form; very dangerous.
NINTH: Temple City Taboo gets class relief after being pace- and position-compromised in last. Princess Summer drew off to nearly five-length maiden score in last; could easily take another. Roagna logged only win on Big A sod; don't ignore. Fifi La Fume is a last-race winner that could fall through the cracks in the wagering; very interesting.
