Notable former MLB players to play for or manage the Long Island Ducks

Trevor Bauer: The 2020 NL Cy Young Award winner with the Reds signed a one-year contract with the Ducks on April 2. He tossed a seven-inning no-hitter in his second start with the club on April 26.
John Rocker: The controversial relief pitcher spent six seasons in the big leagues before joining the Ducks in 2005. After going 0–2 with a 6.50 ERA in 23 games, he was released on June 27, 2005.
Daniel Murphy: He played 12 major-league seasons and was a Met from 2008-2015. On March 29, 2023, Murphy came out of retirement and signed with the Ducks.
Dontrelle Willis: The two-time major-league All-Star spent nine years in the big leagues and won a World Series with the Marlins in 2003. He also was named the NL Rookie of the Year that season. He signed with the Ducks on April 5, 2013, and compiled the best ERA in the Atlantic League, posting a 2.56 ERA through 14 starts. Willis pitched to a 5-4 record and struck out 52 batters in 87 2⁄3 innings.
Wally Backman (manager): He played 14 seasons in the majors and won a World Series title with the Mets in 1986. Backman played for the Mets from 1980-1988. On Nov. 28, 2018, Backman was announced as the new manager of the Ducks for the 2019 season. He mutually agreed with the Ducks to part ways at the completion of the 2023 season.
Rich Hill: The lefthanded pitcher spent a total of 21 years in the major leagues and pitched for 14 different teams, including the Mets (2021) and Yankees (2014). On July 28, 2015, Hill signed with the Ducks. In two starts with the club, he struck out 21 batters in 11 innings.
Bill Pulsipher: Played in a total of six major-league seasons, including three with the Mets (1995, 1998, 2000). He signed with Ducks in 2004 and pitched for the club until 2007.
Edgardo Alfonzo: The infielder played 12 years in the majors and was with the Mets from 1995-2002. He was an All-Star in 2000 and was inducted into the Mets Hall of Fame in 2021. Alfonzo played with the Ducks in 2007 and 2008.
Carlos Baerga: The three-time All-Star was in the big leagues for 14 years and played for the Mets from 1996-1998. He was a member of the Ducks in 2001.
Pat Mahomes: He pitched in the majors for 14 seasons and was a Met from 1999-2000. The father of Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes pitched for the Ducks in 2006.
Armando Benitez: The reliever, who pitched in the majors for 15 years, was with the Mets from 1999-2003 and appeared in nine games with the Yankees in 2003. The two-time All-Star signed with the Ducks in 2012.
Carl Everett: The 14-year major-leaguer and two-time All-Star played with the Mets from 1995-1997. He played with the Ducks in 2007 and 2008.
Lew Ford (former player and current manager): He played with the Twins from 2003-2007 and played with the Orioles in 2012. Ford spent 13 seasons with the Ducks, nine of those as a player/coach. He is currently in his third season as Ducks manager.
Eric Gagne: The three-time All-Star and 2003 NL Cy Young Award winner pitched in the majors for 10 years, winning a World Series in 2007 with the Red Sox. Gagne converted all 55 save opportunities in 2003 en route to becoming both the first pitcher to record 50 saves in multiple seasons and the fastest pitcher to reach the 100-save plateau. He signed and pitched with the Ducks in 2017.
Juan Gonzalez: The three-time All-Star and two-time AL MVP (1996, 1998) spent 17 years in the majors. He played with the Ducks in 2006.
Francisco Rodriguez: The six-time All-Star and 2002 World Series winner had a 16-year major-league career. He pitched with the Mets from 2009-2011 and signed with the Ducks in 2018.
Wilson Ramos: The catcher played in the big leagues for 12 years and was with the Mets from 2019-2020. The two-time All-Star appeared in 40 games with the Ducks in 2023.
Sidney Ponson: The righthander pitched in 12 major league seasons, including parts of 2006 and 2008 with the Yankees. He made 11 starts for the Ducks in 2010.
Preston Wilson: The 2023 All-Star played in eight games with the Mets in 2008 before being traded to the Marlins with two other minor-leaguers for Mike Piazza. On March 21, 2009, Preston was signed by the Ducks. He appeared in 48 games under another former Mets player in Gary Carter, who was the manager of the Ducks at the time.
Jose Offerman: The two-time All-Star played with the Mets in 2005, the final season of a 15-year career. On August 14, 2007, while playing for the Ducks, Offerman was thrown out of a game against Bridgeport for charging pitcher Matt Beech with a bat after he was hit by a pitch. He was suspended indefinitely a day later.
Ian Kinsler: The four-time All-Star, 2018 World Series champion and two-time Gold Glove Award winner signed with the Ducks on July 2, 2021, in order to prepare for Team Israel in the Olympics. He made five appearances with the club.
