Trevor Bauer started on the mound opening night for the Ducks and took his following five turns, too. But someone else will have to take at least the next turn for him on the road this week.

The Ducks placed the 35-year-old righthander on the injured list Monday. Bauer must spend a minimum of seven days on there.

The problem is back spasms. There’s no timetable at the moment for his return.

Bauer had been pitching very effectively for the Ducks into Sunday’s start against Gastonia, bringing along a 4-1 record and a 1.41 ERA.

That included a seven-inning no-hitter at Lancaster and a 15-K game last Tuesday against Gastonia that broke the Ducks’ single-game record.

But this last outing was a rocky outing.

The former NL Cy Young Award winner yielded five runs, eight hits and two walks while striking out seven over five-plus innings. Bauer took a no-decision in the Ducks’ 6-5 loss, and his ERA rose to 2.43. He didn’t complain about any discomfort in his postgame media session.
