Keith McPherson, WFAN’s nighttime host since 2021, announced on Monday that he is leaving the station as a full-time host “for personal reasons and schedule conflicts with my family.”
McPherson shared the news on his social media accounts in a minute-long address, saying he wanted to be the one to break the news and to get ahead of any rumors surrounding it.
“I may be back to do some nights,” he said. “I may be back to do some part-time, fill-in spots. But I’m breaking the news. You’ll hear it right from the horse’s mouth, the host’s mouth, before anybody else can hijack the story and say I was fired or my contract was up. I wasn’t fired. I’m not quitting. My contract was not up.”
McPherson described the move as “shifting.”
“I’m making a personal change that was necessary for myself and my family,” he said. “I just took my son to school, just saw my wife leave for work and got a minute to sit down here before the day gets rolling.”
WFAN declined to comment on McPherson’s announcement.
McPherson’s last regular show was Friday. It was not immediately clear who might replace him at night, a volatile time slot because of conflicts with live events.
