Curaçao extends veteran coach Dick Advocaat's contract through July 2027

WILLEMSTAD, Curaçao — Veteran coach Dick Advocaat has extended his contract with Curaçao until the end of July 2027, the country's federation said on Wednesday.
The 78-year-old Advocaat coached at his third World Cup this summer, setting a record as the oldest coach in the tournament’s 96-year history.
He returned in May to coach the team, three months after he resigned citing a family health issue.
“Under Advocaat’s leadership, Curaçao has made important strides on the international stage,” the federation said, adding that it chose “continuity and stability” by offering him a contract extension.
Curaçao was playing at its first World Cup but ended bottom of Group E after earning its only point with a 0-0 draw against Ecuador in June .
“We have achieved something special together, and I look forward to continuing to build on what we have accomplished with the players and staff,” Advocaat said.
He is set to announce his squad for upcoming matches in the CONCACAF Nations League on Friday.
