Get ready for early aughts-rock when The Fray and Dashboard Confessional come to Northwell at Jones Beach Theater this summer.
The two bands are scheduled to play the Wantagh venue on Aug. 22 along with indie rockers Colony House. Tickets for the general public go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. at thefray.com.
The Fray's 42-city trek, dubbed "Summer of Light Tour," begins Feb. 21 in Tempe, Arizona, and includes a stop at the four-day Barefoot Country Music Fest in Wildwood, New Jersey (June 18-21), before concluding Aug. 29 in Chicago, according to the band’s website. The Fray’s fifth and newest album, "A Light That Waits," is scheduled for release March 13. It will mark the band’s first since 2014’s "Helios."
Straddling the Christian and secular rock worlds, The Fray released its debut album, "How to Save a Life," in 2005 and scored a No. 3 hit with the piano-based title track. The band released three more albums before founding singer Isaac Slade departed, leaving vocal duties to guitarist Joe King.
Dashboard Confessional is a group of revolving musicians fronted by Chris Carrabba, one of the defining voices of emo rock at the dawn of the new millennium. Though Carrabba never scored a major hit, some of his songs became much-loved anthems of the emo genre, notably "Screaming Infidelities" and "Hands Down." The band’s most recent album, its eighth, is "All the Truth That I Can Tell," was released in 2022.
