Two of the theater world's biggest lights are about to make the leap from Broadway to Park Avenue (in Huntington, that is).

Tony Award winner Marc Shaiman will be coming to the Cinema Arts Centre on May 9 to talk about his memoir, "Never Mind the Happy." Joining the composer-lyricist will be his special guest, Tony-winning actress and Northport native Patti LuPone, who will perform one of Shaiman's songs — and hopefully an encore or two.

Rounding out the program will be a performance by the Northport High School Concert Choir and a reception and book signing.

Tickets for the event, which will begin at 7:30 p.m., are $56.75 and can be purchased at cinemaartscentre.org.

The Cinema Arts Centre gives Shaiman's fans a new opportunity to meet him. In February, he had been scheduled to talk about the book with Manhasset-raised Broadway star Melissa Errico at the John W. Engeman Theater in Northport, but the program was canceled.

"Never Mind the Happy" covers highlights of Shaiman’s 50-year career, including his years on Broadway writing songs for "Hairspray" and "Some Like It Hot," as well as his work in Hollywood ("Sleepless in Seattle," "Beaches") and his friendship with stars like Billy Crystal, who grew up in Long Beach.

LuPone and Shaiman have been friends for more than 30 years, and collaborated when Shaiman did the musical arrangements for her 1995 show, "Patti LuPone on Broadway."
