An Eastern Suffolk BOCES worker attempted to take lewd photos of two underage girls in Selden on separate occasions over the last three months, according to Suffolk County police.

Aqeel Ahmad, 53, of Selden, was arrested Thursday and charged with trying to photograph under the clothes of a child, authorities said.

The most recent arrest stems from an alleged attempt to snap photos up the shorts of a 17-year-old girl in the ShopRite supermarket on Sept. 11 in Selden, police said.

He has already been charged with unlawful surveillance, acting in a manner injurious to a child and tampering with evidence, according to court records, for a similar October incident in the Target in Independence Plaza.

Police said that on Oct. 19, Ahmad attempted to take photos up the dress of a 13-year-old girl as she browsed the greeting card section of the department store.

The girl’s father witnessed the exchange and confronted Ahmad, police said, causing him to flee.

Police tracked him down and arrested him on Oct. 28.

His defense attorney, David Kirsch, said that he had not seen the charges and could not comment. Eastern Suffolk BOCES officials said late Thursday that Ahmad had resigned from his job as a special education aide at the Brookhaven Learning Center.

Ahmad was to be held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and arraigned Friday at First District Court in Central Islip.

Police ask anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Ahmad to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
