The 18-year-old driver of the 2012 Hyundai that struck the woman crossing Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook on Sunday evening remained on the scene, police said. Credit: Getty Images / iStockphoto

Police identified on Monday the woman killed after she was hit by a car while crossing Sunrise Highway in Lynbrook.

Azucena Lopez Rodriguez, 46, of Lynbrook, was crossing the highway at Horton Avenue around 5:33 p.m. when she was struck by a 2012 Hyundai driven by an 18-year-old man, authorities said. She was transported to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver remained at the scene, according to the police. 

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
