Children need to be provided instructions about using electric bicycles. We live on a busy road with a 40 mph speed limit. The nearest traffic light is a half-mile away, and there are no stop signs. E-bikes zip past our house all the time. Some riders are wearing helmets, but many do not.

Most e-bike riders are traveling at the same speed as the cars and trucks. E-bikes are essentially mini electric motorcycles. It seems ridiculous that someone can drive an e-bike without a motorcycle license, helmet, and insurance.

When you give a child who is not old enough to obtain a driver’s license an e-bike without training and instruction about traffic laws, that child is being put in danger.
