Musings: E-bikes on paths pose safety risk

The proliferation of e-bikes on our roads is bad enough. But people choosing to use them on bike paths — whether along Ocean Parkway, Massapequa Preserve or elsewhere — needs to be addressed.
I understand that some people need pedal assist in order to enjoy these paths — but most of the riders seem fully fit enough to be pedaling. Instead, many are zipping along at about 30 mph — without helmets and without pedaling — endangering other riders. Why can’t we have a ban on this and have it enforced?
