DENVER — Denver Broncos second-year running back RJ Harvey went on short-term injured reserve Saturday after sustaining a knee injury at practice 48 hours earlier.
The Broncos (5-2) made several other moves, most notably promoting veteran safety Taylor Rapp from their practice squad with starting safety Talanoa Hufanga ruled out against the Kansas City Chiefs (5-1) on Sunday.
This will be the third consecutive game Hufanga has missed.
The Broncos also elevated running back Cody Schrader and offensive lineman Gavin Ortega. Schrader appeared in two games with the Los Angeles Rams in 2024-25.
Although All-Pro cornerback Patrick Surtain II is off the injury report and cleared to play against the Chiefs, four other starters were listed as questionable: defensive tackle Zach Allen (hamstring), wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (chest), left tackle Garett Bolles (hip), and safety Brandon Jones (hamstring).
All four were limited in practice on Friday.
Harvey, who scored 12 touchdowns as a rookie last season, has one touchdown run and one TD reception this year.
Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed was ruled out with a knee injury but Kansas City's top receiver, Rashee Rice, has been cleared to play after missing two games with hamstring and knee injuries.
