High school roundup: Boys and girls soccer, field hockey, girls volleyball and girls tennis

Down three in the second half, the Valley Stream South boys soccer team scored four consecutive goals to come back and win, 4-3, over Lawrence on the road in Nassau’s Conference A Friday. Luke Huczko scored the go-ahead goal with roughly five minutes left and assisted another.

Leo Garces played every minute, finishing with a goal and an assist for Valley Stream South (3-4-1). Dylan Pelico scored the tying goal and Johnathan Gomez added a goal of his own.

Jorge Ortega Bamaca had a hat trick for Lawrence (1-5-2).

Floral Park 1, Mineola 0: David O’Shea scored a goal with 10 minutes left in the second half to lead Floral Park (8-0-1) in Nassau A. Kaden Sy made 13 saves. Matthew Osorio made eight saves for Mineola (5-4).

Sachem North 1, Sachem East 0: Isaiah Medrano Diaz converted a pass from Riley Apicella for the decisive goal in the 20th minute for Sachem North (4-3-2) in Suffolk I. Dylan Barker made seven saves in his third shutout. Kevin Weeks saved four shots for Sachem East (7-2).

Deer Park 2, Huntington 1: Lucas Castro scored off an assist from Mychael Lainez in the 72nd minute to give Deer Park (3-3-1) the lead in Suffolk III. Saul Peraza scored on a 28-yard free kick to tie the score in the 33rd minute. Angel Herrera scored for Huntington (8-2).

Glenn 2, Shoreham-Wading River 1: Nick Augustine and Lucas Tast each scored a goal to lead Glenn (7-0) past Shoreham-Wading River (3-3-1) in Suffolk V.

Greenport 2, Mattituck 1: Luis Morales scored the winner on a free kick for Greenport (2-6-1) in Suffolk VI. Jordan Martinez also scored. Charlie Carter scored for Mattituck (5-1-1).

GIRLS SOCCER

Rocky Point 3, Mattituck/Greenport/Southold 2: Maija Koski scored two goals and Abigail Hansen added one for Rocky Point (4-3-1) in Suffolk III. Devin Stanton and Sophia Boyle scored for Mattituck/Greenport/Southold (2-5-1).

MacArthur 1, North Shore 0: Kat Maris scored the game’s only goal in the second half off an assist from Alexa Coppola to lead MacArthur (4-2-2) in non-league.

St. Dominic 4, Portledge 3: Briana Laliotis scored two goals to lead St. Dominic (2-3) in a non-league game. Emily Johnston and Juliana Ray both scored. Karamia Santamaria scored two goals for Portledge (4-2).

FIELD HOCKEY

Comsewogue 1, Sayville 0: Lilly Arnone scored on a rebound for the game’s only goal to lead Comsewogue (6-2) in Suffolk II. Keira Walling held the shutout with 10 saves. Caleigh Pfaff made 13 saves for Sayville (5-3).

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Valley Stream Central 3, New Hyde Park 2: Mia-Megan Wallace had 17 digs to lead Valley Stream Central (1-3) to a 19-25, 18-25, 26-24, 25-23, 15-12 in Nassau AA-I. Joanna Joseph had 10 kills and Sareah Dingle had 10 blocks.

Mepham 3, Roslyn 2: Ella Ercoli had 17 kills, five blocks and three aces to lead Mepham (6-1) in a 25-12, 20-25, 25-17, 21-25, 15-8 win over Roslyn (1-4) in Nassau AA-I.

Brentwood 3, Longwood 1: Salome Rios had 15 kills, 10 digs and two aces to lead Brentwood (4-4) past Longwood (3-3) in four sets, 25-23, 25-16, 14-25, 25-22, in Suffolk I. Shayla Merlos had 11 kills, six aces and eight digs.

Lindenhurst 3, Copiague 1: Brianna Marciano had 37 digs and four aces to lead Lindenhurst (4-4) to a 25-15, 25-8, 22-25, 25-11 win over Copiague (4-4) in Suffolk II. Angelene Robles totaled 15 kills, four aces and seven digs and Olivia Jedut had 13 kills, two blocks and two digs.

GIRLS TENNIS

Patchogue-Medford 7, Comsewogue 0: Sydney Champlin and Emily Cardenas defeated Ashley Laura and Evita Rugeinus, 6-3, 6-7 (12), 10-8, in Suffolk III to clinch a playoff spot for Patchogue-Medford (5-2).
