Johnny Nessler scored the go-ahead goal, assisted by Vito Colucci with 2:45 remaining in MacArthur’s 15-14 win over Seaford in non-league boys lacrosse on Saturday.
Nessler finished with eight goals, tying Jamie McAndrew for the school’s single-game record, according to coach John Nessler.
Colucci had a goal and three assists. James McGee added three goals and two assists. Colin McDermott had a goal and two assists for MacArthur (3-2). Logan DiFondi had four goals and three assists for Seaford (2-3).
BASEBALL
Calhoun 4, Bethpage 3: Andrew Marino doubled with two outs in the seventh and Nick Maresca followed with a walk-off single for Calhoun (2-0) in non-league. Maresca went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Marino was 2-for-3 with two doubles. Tim Lynch had two hits. Vinny Barretti allowed no hits in four scoreless innings. Will Lynn homered for Bethpage (1-2).
Plainedge 10, North Shore 0: Taylor Nitsch struck out 11 in a five-inning no-hitter to lead Plainedge (5-0) in Nassau A. Plainedge committed a first-inning error and that allowed the only batter to reach base against Nitsch. Jayden Gaghan had a homer and three RBIs, Mike Calapai had two hits, three RBIs and two runs and Jaxson Torres had two hits and two RBIs.
Wheatley 4, Wantagh 3: Alex Golub had three hits for Wheatley (3-2) in Nassau A. Casey Quinn allowed an earned run and struck out eight in six innings.
