A coffee trend that began brewing across Long Island in 2025 will continue into the new year when The Barn Ronkonkoma opens its drive-thru window for the first time on Friday morning.
The highly Instagrammable coffee shops — both the nostalgic red silo exterior aesthetic and sugary sweet concoctions that may inspire you to open your phone’s camera app — have opened at four former Dairy Barns in Suffolk, with Nassau spots set to open soon.
"I’m looking to open one per month for the next six months," owner Irena Angeliades told Newsday shortly after converting her former drive-thru Dairy Barn into a coffee shop for the first time in Huntington Village in June.
In that time, Angeliades, whose family purchased all 49 Dairy Barns on Long Island in 2010, has opened shops in East Northport, Patchogue and now Ronkonkoma. Center Moriches, Kings Park and Selden are among future sites for The Barn recently announced.
The nostalgia-evoking spots — where customers once pulled up to grab a quart of milk and a newspaper — generate lines during peak coffee times in the mornings.
Featuring For Five Coffee, The Barn sells hot and iced coffee, including chai and vanilla lattes, and lemonade, seasonal hot chocolate and cider. Dessert-focused specialty drinks include the rainbow cookie latte, topped with requisite rainbow cookies, and the powdered donut, crowned with an actual doughnut.
Drinks cost $6 to $8, with some seasonal specialties topping $12 on the menu.
The Barn Ronkonkoma, 570 Hawkins Ave., 631-432-6422; Open Monday through Sunday 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
