Cardi B to make in-store appearance at West Babylon's Looney Tunes Record Store

Cardi B is scheduled to drop by Long Island later this month for an afternoon appearance at Looney Tunes Record Store in West Babylon, the store announced on its website.

The Grammy-winning hip-hop star, known for her hits "Bodak Yellow" and "Up," will take photos with fans at the store starting at 1 p.m. on Sept. 19.

Cardi B, born Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, is a former exotic dancer and reality TV star who scored a breakthrough hit with the slinky single "Bodak Yellow" in 2017. Known for her strong New York City accent, street-tough lyrics and sassy attitude, Cardi B has since become one of hip-hop’s most colorful characters. She threw a shoe at Nicki Minaj during New York Fashion Week in 2018, played a stripper alongside Jennifer Lopez in the 2019 film “Hustlers” and in 2021 became the first-ever creative director in residence at Playboy.

Looney Tunes, a mainstay of Long Island’s music scene, has held in-store appearances with several famous names over the past few years, including Sabrina Carpenter, Joe Jonas, Hozier, Meghan Trainor and Selena Gomez.

The store has set several strict rules around the Cardi B event. Only those who purchase the rapper’s new CD, “Am I the Drama?,” for $8.99 online or in person will receive a wristband to attend. Cardi B will pose with fans for pictures taken by the store’s official photographer only; no other cameras will be allowed. Each attendee can take a group shot or a solo shot, but not both. Fans will be allowed to line up starting at 11 a.m., and the store promises that Cardi B will stay until everyone’s picture has been taken.

“There are no autographs, just photos with her," according to the store’s website.
