The Jamaica Strong Benefit Concert will bring together some of the biggest names in Caribbean music at Elmont's UBS Arena on Dec. 12 to raise funds for the nation’s official Hurricane Relief and Recovery Fund, aiding families and communities devastated by Hurricane Melissa. The event will be produced under the “I Love Jamaica Concert Series” in partnership with the Government of Jamaica.
The lineup of performers include former Valley Stream resident Shaggy, Sean Paul, KES the Band, Inner Circle, Ky-Mani Marley, Tessanne Chin, Aidonia, Chronic Law, T.O.K., Gramps Morgan, Richie Stephens and Mikey Spice. Additional artists will be announced in the coming weeks.
All proceeds from the concert will be distributed to Shaggy’s “Make A Difference Foundation”; Sean Paul’s preferred charity, Food for the Poor; and the Consulate General of Jamaica in New York, supporting the official relief portal SupportJamaica.gov.jm and the Irie Jam Radio Foundation (iriejamradio.com/irie-jam-foundation). These organizations are committed to providing housing, food assistance, education support, and infrastructure restoration for Jamaican families affected by Hurricane Melissa.
Tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. via Ticketmaster.
