Officers responded to a Wednesday morning crash near the intersection of Plainfield Avenue and Magnolia Avenue in Floral Park, Nassau police said. Credit: Jonathan Singh

A 63-year-old man was struck and killed by a school bus as he was crossing a street in Floral Park on Wednesday morning, Nassau police said.

Police responded to a 7:45 a.m. call to find the man laying in the street near the intersection of Plainfield Avenue and Magnolia Avenue, Nassau police said in a news release.

The man, who police did not identify, was struck by a 2028 Chevrolet school bus whose driver, a 69-year-old woman, remained at the scene, police said.

The victim, who police said had suffered trauma, was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

No schoolchildren were on the bus at the time of the crash, police said.

Police provided no further information and said an investigation was ongoing.
