Nassau police have identified a Baldwin woman as the person whose body was found in Milburn Pond in the hamlet on Sunday morning.

The body of Hannah Blanc, 28, was recovered after officers responded to the scene following a 911 call at about 7:50 a.m., police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are still investigating the death and did not offer further information about the circumstances.

Milburn Pond Park, which features a walking trail and is a popular spot for fishing, lies just west of South Brookside Avenue, between Sunrise Highway and Merrick Road on the Freeport-Baldwin border adjacent to Freeport High School.

In December 2019, a Freeport man's body was found in Millburn Pond. Police said in that case Freeport resident Dennis Jones, 40, had gone missing a week before — and said his body was recovered by a dive team using sonar technology during a grid search.
