Driver critically injured in West Hempstead crash, police say

Three people were injured, including one in critical condition, after a two-car crash in West Hempstead Thursday evening, Nassau County police said.
Around 5:30 p.m., an 82-year-old woman was driving a 2020 Honda south on Nassau Boulevard when she struck a 2016 Mazda traveling north, police said.
The Honda driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital, where she was in critical but stable condition cops said. Her 70-year-old passenger, as well as the 28-year-old driver of the Mazda, were taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment, officials said.
Police did not confirm if the crash was a wrong-way collision. An investigation is ongoing.
