A construction project will close a portion of westbound Sunrise Highway in the Town of Brookhaven overnight for about four weeks beginning Sunday, the New York State Department of Transportation said.
The project, which will take place weather permitting, is being undertaken to "facilitate concrete pavement repairs," the DOT said in a statement on Thursday.
According to the DOT, the project will force closure of the westbound roadway between Exit 53, Route 112, and Exit 55, County Road 101-Sills Road, Sunday through Thursday each week from 10 p.m. overnight until 5 a.m. Traffic will be diverted onto northbound Sills Road to westbound Woodside Avenue, County Road 99, and then back onto Route 112 to access Sunrise.
Electronic message signs will be placed near the work zone to advise motorists of any additional relevant traveler information, the DOT said.
