Nassau police say female pedestrian hit by pickup in Freeport has died

A female pedestrian who was struck by a pickup truck Tuesday afternoon in Freeport has died, the Nassau County Police said.
The 2005 Dodge Ram pickup truck, driven by a 82-year-old man, struck the pedestrian, identified Thursday as Adriana Monsalve, 54, of Freeport, at 3:25 p.m. Tuesday on Mill Street at the Buffalo Street intersection, the Nassau police said in a news release Tuesday.
The victim was transported to a hospital in critical condition.
She "succumbed to her injuries and was declared deceased by a hospital physician," the department said Thursday in an updated release.
The driver remained at the scene and the Homicide Squad is investigating, the police said.
