Train service on the Long Island Rail Road’s Main Line will be "extremely limited" this weekend, as the railroad upgrades signals between Mineola and Huntington, officials said.
From just after 12:15 a.m. Saturday through 2:15 a.m. Monday, buses will replace trains in both directions between Mineola and Huntington on the Port Jefferson line, LIRR officials said. The buses will run hourly and only make stops at Hicksville, Syosset and Cold Spring Harbor.
On the Ronkonkoma branch, trains will operate every two hours between Jamaica and Farmingdale, utilizing the LIRR’s Central Branch, which runs north and south, linking the Babylon and Ronkonkoma lines. The trains will not make any stops between Jamaica and Farmingdale, and will require an extra 50 minutes of travel time, the railroad said.
LIRR officials encourage affected riders to consider alternatives, including South Shore LIRR branches or Nassau’s NICE Bus.
