High school sports roundup: Girls lacrosse, baseball, softball
Brooke Sullivan-Pagano scored the winning goal off a pass from Julie Dammes with 2:28 left in the fourth quarter to lead Hicksville to a 7-6 win over Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK in Nassau Conference III girls lacrosse on Friday. Sullivan-Pagano had three goals and Payton Charan had two goals and one assist. Roslyn Feliciano made 12 saves for Hicksville (9-3). Heather Glykos had two goals and one assist for POB JFK (7-6).
BASEBALL
Sayville 2, Mount Sinai 1: Brody Tellier hit the go-ahead single in the top of the eighth inning to lead Sayville (9-5) in Suffolk VI. Kyle Messina, who doubled earlier in the inning, scored the winning run. Shane Meehan had an RBI single to tie the score at 1 in the top of the sixth. Grady Valenti pitched four innings of relief for his first career win.
Sachem East 4, Ward Melville 3: Ryan Margolis hit a walk-off single that scored Matt Toia to lead Sachem East (8-5) in Suffolk II.
SOFTBALL
Smithtown West 5, West Islip 2: Erin McDaid struck out 14 and allowed no earned runs in a complete game to lead Smithtown West (7-6) in Suffolk IV. Jiselle Singh had three hits. Gabrielle Krayewski and Avery Bonello each had two RBIs.
