Miller Place boys soccer's Mehmet Cinar scores second-half goal in win over Hampton Bays
Mehmet Cinar scored off an assist from Lorenzo Killary in the 65th minute to lead Miller Place to a 1-0 victory over Hampton Bays on Friday in a Suffolk III boys soccer game.
Chris Mylett Jr. saved two shots to turn in a shutout for Miller Place (5-1-1). Nick Osorio made four saves for Hampton Bays (3-2).
Bellport 3, Eastport-South Manor 0: Anthony Argueta scored two goals and Ahad Shah added another to lead Bellport (3-5) in Suffolk II. Bryant Tatacoya made five saves to earn his second consecutive shutout. Adonai Maldanado and Jerry Amaya each had an assist in the win.
Smithtown East 5, Hauppauge 1: Yajin Garg scored three goals and had one assist to lead Smithtown East (6-0-1) in Suffolk II. Branden Jurlando and Anthony Distasi chipped in two assists each. Ethan Kyle scored for Hauppauge (2-5-1).
Kings Park 4, Islip 0: Matt Langino scored three goals to lead Kings Park (5-0) in Suffolk III. Michael Congro, Chase Okin and Andrew Bonino combined for Kings Park’s fifth consecutive shutout to begin the season. Nate Krakaur made three saves and Aidan Biscari made two saves for Islip (2-3).
GIRLS SOCCER
Newfield 2, Central Islip 0: Peyton Hughes scored from 20 yards off an assist from Makenna Latourell and Destiny Lopez finished off a free kick crossed in by Latourell to lead Newfield (2-4) in Suffolk I. Marly Smith held the shutout in goal. For Central Islip (0-7), Ayleen Gomez and Viviana Velasquez combined for four saves.
East Hampton 1, Riverhead 0: In the 64th minute, Elle Reidlinger scored the winning goal to lead East Hampton (6-0) in the Alternative League. Amy Salto had the shutout with seven saves and Sky Hervan saved four shots for Riverhead (3-3).
Longwood 3, Bay Shore 0: Brooke Pfeiffer scored two goals and Makenzi Hansen made four saves to lead Longwood (4-2) in Suffolk I. Erin Wolfe made 12 saves for Bay Shore (1-6).
East Islip 6, Westhampton 0: Danika Tidridge scored four goals and added an assist to lead East Islip (4-1-1) in Suffolk II. Eighth-grader Elisa Carlino scored her first and second varsity goals in the win. Payten Tidridge had two assists and Sabrina Carrol, Isabella Genow, Gabriella Shaw and Kaylee Zummo each finished with one. Emma VanNostrand made four saves and Kiera Guerera had two to secure the team’s fourth consecutive shutout.
Harborfields 5, Deer Park 0: Molly Walsh scored two goals to lead Harborfields (4-0-3) in Suffolk II. Lyla Droskoski, Riley Lockhart and Devyn Slattery each added a goal. Molly Pelicano made seven saves for Deer Park (2-4).
THURSDAY’S GAME
Carle Place 2, Friends Academy 1: In the 64th minute while on a one-on-one breakaway, Daniella Correia scored the go-ahead goal off a through ball from Julianna Lugris to win it for Carle Place (4-3) in Nassau A/B-II. After falling behind in the seventh minute, Correia tied the score in the 23rd minute when she went top shelf off a solo run to finish the goal. Emma Barros recorded six saves in the win. For Friends Academy (3-3-1), Gabby Hudak saved eight shots.
FIELD HOCKEY
Huntington 1, Riverhead 0: Cassidy Harris scored off an assist from Alexa Wasoski with 3:49 left in the game to lead Huntington (4-3) in Suffolk I. Kathleen Cocoman made eight saves. Casey Hubbard made nine saves for Riverhead (3-3).
Floyd 4, North Babylon 0: Kaleigh Benson scored two goals to lead Floyd (5-2) in Suffolk I. Kalina-Sky Permenter didn’t make a save for Floyd.
Manhasset 7, Baldwin 0: Emerson Post had one goal and two assists and Dylan Lambert added two goals to lead Manhasset (5-1) in Nassau I. Abigail Bauer had one goal and one assist. Alyssa Clay made 10 saves for Baldwin (1-5).
BOYS VOLLEYBALL
East Meadow 3, Oceanside 2: Carter Piscione posted a double-double with 33 assists and 10 digs while also adding three blocks, two kills and two aces to lead East Meadow in a five-set comeback, 24-26, 23-25, 25-16, 25-21, 15-10, in Nassau I-B. Vinnie Bernal led East Meadow (6-3) with 13 kills, and Chase Eisel had 11. Ethan Cox totaled 14 digs to lead the Jets in the win.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Bay Shore 3, Floyd 0: Isabella Petraglia had four digs and one kill, Maggie Striplin had three digs and one ace, Roslyn Duran had two blocks and one kill, Chloe Modica had two digs and one kill and Grace Mathews added four digs to lead Bay Shore (7-0) in three sets, 25-14, 25-12, 25-18, in Suffolk I.
Centereach 3, Smithtown West 2: Chloe Arnaiz posted a double-double with 14 kills and 23 digs to help lead Centereach in a five-set comeback, 15-25, 24-26, 25-22, 25-20, 15-6, in non-league. Francesca Vera added 11 kills, Kayleigh Balsamo had 32 assists and Maya Cosmo contributed 22 digs and four service aces in the win for Centereach (5-2).
