With 3:30 remaining in the fourth quarter, Nick Leoni’s tackle denied Copiague’s would-be game-tying two-point conversion in Newfield football’s 20-18 home win over Copiague Monday afternoon in Suffolk’s Division III. Connor Stebbins completed 13 of 20 passes for 164 yards and two touchdowns, adding 10 rushes for 70 yards and a score. Dante Powell had 11 carries for 90 yards and recorded a 10-yard TD reception on one of his four catches for Newfield (1-1).
Roger Rowe scored two rushing touchdowns for Copiague (0-2).
BOYS SOCCER
Kings Park 2, Babylon 1: Massimo Rosamilia only needed five minutes to score the golden goal off Joe Dempsey’s header to win the game in the first overtime period for Kings Park in non-league play. Matt Langino scored off an assist from Dom Filipkowski in the first half for the Kingsmen (6-0). Trace Cerrone made 13 saves for Babylon (7-1-1). Daniel Murphy forced overtime with his second-half goal for the Panthers.

Southampton 2, Riverhead 1: Trailing by one at halftime, Addison Stevens scored two goals to lead Southampton (3-5) to a non-league win. Natalie Glanz made six saves. Gabby Re scored a goal for Riverhead (3-4) and Sky Hervan made 18 saves.

Sachem East 1, Patchogue-Medford 0: Aubrey Canale finished a cross from Braelin Fernandes two minutes into overtime for the winning goal for Sachem East (4-1) in Suffolk I. Sophia Carpenito recorded her fourth shutout of the season in the victory.

Comsewogue 3, East Hampton 2: Gabby Sohngen scored the winning goal off a penalty corner and an assist from Sophia Catanzaro with 1:54 left in the fourth quarter for Comsewogue (7-1) in Suffolk II. Kayla Schmalz had two goals. Riley Welsh had two goals for East Hampton (3-5). Izzy Briand had 18 saves.

New Hyde Park 2, North Shore 1: Madelyn Neu scored the winning goal off an assist from Emily Sepcaru in overtime to lead New Hyde Park (5-1) in Nassau II. Sophia Humburg tied the score for New Hyde Park in the second quarter off an assist from Sepcaru.
