Wilderness Survival: Modern Firecraft

Sep19

Fire has always been more than warmth; it’s light, safety, and the foundation of civilization itself. In this hands-on workshop led by Mike Evans, participants will explore the science, history, and artistry of creating fire using friction-based methods such as the bow drill and hand drill, while reflecting on the deep ingenuity behind these ancient technologies. Participants will learn to gather and prepare natural materials, form an ember through perseverance and technique, and safely nurture it into flame. These workshops are for adults, but children 14+ are welcome with an accompanying adult. Programs are held outdoors, so dress for the weather. Bring sturdy footwear, gloves and a hand towel to each event.
