BACKGROUND

  • Cullinane, 70, of Lindenhurst, has been involved in local government "for many years" and was the clerk-treasurer for the Village of Lindenhurst for nearly three decades, he said.
  • He currently works as an attorney and is the village prosecutor for the Village of Brightwaters Justice Court.
  • He's a founding member of the Lindenhurst Business Improvement District and is president of the Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts Board of Directors.

ISSUES

  • Cullinane said finances and taxes are a top issue and residents he talks to say "they're being burdened by taxes from all different levels." He pointed to Lindenhurst Village's 12% tax rate increase announced earlier this year.
  • He said public safety is another concern and added that residents have said they would like to see enhanced traffic enforcement.
  • He said he can be a "fiscal watchdog" given his experience as clerk-treasurer
