A symmetrical house with forest green shutters and a door to match was renovated by the homeowners, for the homeowners, said listing agent Alexis McAndrew.

But as they prepare to move for work, McAndrew said, the owners have listed the four-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Locust Valley for nearly $1.1 million. Taxes on the 0.14-acre Soundview Place parcel, which falls within the Locust Valley Central School District, total $11,622.

"This is a house that you could move in with your toothbrush, and I find that so rare these days," said McAndrew, of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty.

Nassau County land records identify the home as a 1½-story Cape. According to McAndrew, a previous owner added a dormer to the second level of the house and the current owners renovated the basement.

Five years ago, McAndrew said, both bathrooms underwent a gut renovation. The first-floor bathroom now has marble tile and Kohler fixtures; its second-floor counterpart has imported cement tiles and a cast iron Kohler tub, she said.

Additional interior updates over the past several years include new windows — including two skylights — fresh hardwood flooring, the addition of a reverse osmosis drinking water system and the installation of two-zone central air conditioning. The hot water heater is five years old, McAndrew said, and there is a forced air heating system.

The house and detached one-car garage were outfitted five years ago with new roofs and copper gutters, she said. Other exterior projects included a bluestone patio and walkway and a pea gravel and blacktop driveway. Behind the garage, there is a fire pit area.

"These owners were super thoughtful in their renovations," McAndrew said.

The finished basement has a full-size egress door and is currently set up to include a gym, a laundry room and a family room, she said.

Throughout the home, character comes in the form of crown molding and Serena & Lily wallpaper.

"They've used every space to its max, and given it a lot of charm and character during the renovation," McAndrew said.
